Formation Series
development | collaboration | partnership research | engagement | dialogue
We strive to support and develop a safe environment where creativity can flourish, ideas can be challenges and new work can be made. Working with artists and companies whose arts practice is innovative and exploratory in form we hope to support a programme of extraordinary work which questions and develops arts practice in the 21st Century as well as presenting opportunities for audiences to experience new work at every stage of its development.
The formation series gives artists the space and resources so that they can try out ideas as part of their development of new work. Audiences are invited to take part by giving feedback, which will support artists as part of this process.
Call out to artists
At the ShowRoom we are developing our on-going programme of supporting artist and companies to make new work that is dynamic and innovative within a contemporary genre.
During 2009/2010 we have commissioned international dance with new work by Gregory Maqoma and Sidi Larbi, a touring production by 1927 and an artist led community project with Fuel and Andrew Dawson with University of Chichester students and the residents of Bognor Regis.
Alongside this we have set up the Formation Series, which is a flexible platform for new and experienced artists who are looking to expand or reflect upon their practice through the development of a new idea.
We are now in the process of defining how we take this to the next stage and will be posting more information here on the website in the autumn.
If you are interested in hearing more and receiving details about how you can put forward a proposal please forward your contact details to showroom@chi.ac.uk and title your email CALL OUT TO ARTISTS.

Growing Old With You is a life long performance project which attempts to document lived experience in real time. Starting in 2010 and for every 5 (or so) years for the rest of their lives Search Party will create a performance exploring ideas of age, duality and accumulation. Over the course of a lifetime we hope to create a series of works in which we, the work and the audience all grow old together.

1927 invite you through a fractal looking glass to a dystopian metropolis of inner city paranoia.
