Technical Specifications for Visiting Companies

The ShowRoom has 212 seats and the University of Chichester will give the company up to 6 complimentary tickets.

The ShowRoom provides:

  • the services of a resident Technical Manager to rig lights and sound prior to your performance, and support on the day and evening of the performance
  • additional crew for on-stage (if required)
  • Front of house staff
  • Storage for a specified amount of equipment, after the get out (if required)

SOUND

The ShowRoom has two separate audio systems.

One is a dedicated PA system with a typical set up of a mixer fed in to two quad amps and a phonic amp in bridged mono for sub bass, fed out to 4 Bose 402 loudspeakers and a Bose sub bass unit in the auditorium.

There is also a Marantz DVD player fed in to a Marantz surround decoder pre amp that feeds three bose amplifiers for the L/R/C/S/ LFE channels for 5:1 The loudspeakers are Bose 402 and a Bose sub bass unit for the LFE.

A comprehensive range of audio and video tie lines from the floor, truss, foyer and control room can be used to feed signals to any destination. These terminate in XLR and BNC at the facility panels in the auditorium and BBC type B gauge jacks and BNC on the patch bay in the control room.

2x tannoy dc200 monitor speakers upstage overhead fill in fed from aux 1/2 output of the A&H desk.

Microphones

Trantec racked and ready 8 way 5.3 series comprising:

  • 2 handheld mics with drawmer LX20 compression on insert points
  • 6 lapel type microphones
  • 8 sennheiser evolution microphones and stands
  • 2 akg rifle microphones

A/V playback:

An Edirol 4 channel composite video vision mixer is connected to a video projector in the lighting truss, which can also accept inputs from the house apple Mac computer or from the auditorium where a laptop can be fed in to the projector for PowerPoint presentations. A projection screen drops down from the truss on remote control.

We currently support dvd, cd, cassette audio, mini disc, mini dv, vhs tape

  • 3X dynacord 1080 HD media players supporting avi, mp4, mkv, mov, wmv, h264, flv.
  • Usb/memory card interface supporting up to 2Tb hdd
  • with hdmi, composite and svga connection
  • 2x NEC VT 676 projectors (with one truss cradle)
  • Eiki LC X986 projector connected to composite output of an Edirol V4 vision mixer

Also connected to the house G5 apple mac running:

  • Qlab for audio and video,
  • audacity, itunes, mpeg streamclip
  • quick time professional

And:

Lexicon and alesis rackmount dynamic effects, available at the mixing desk aux bus

Induction loop hearing assistance

A wide range of interconnecting cables, adaptors and miscellaneous items for connecting all manner of av equipment.

Visiting companies may also make use of:

  • 2X macbooks running office, audacity, I movie, garageband,
  • 1X g5 running cubase sx, connected to a berringher mixing desk with drawmer compression and akg recording microphones
  • 1X 32” lcd tv mounted on a rolling chrome stand
  • 4x dv cameras

Internet

2 internet connections are available via ethernet cable ONLY, unless specific prior notice is given one week in advance.
Wireless accounts are usually only available to visitors staying more than one day.

STAGE DIMENSIONS

(Surrounded by black curtains on track / white cyc (10m x 4m))

  • Stage area: 14m wide x 9.6m deep (black Harlequin floor)
  • Seating area: 14m wide x 6.2m deep (retractable)
  • Total floor area with seats retracted: 14m x 14.5m
  • Pre-wired truss; height 4.8m (lowers to 4m upstage)

THE VENUE

At present one lockable dressing room is available. A visiting company will be offered the use of this room with its key. Secure lockers are also available for valuable items.
Showers facilities are available in an adjacent building.
There is a full cafeteria service available in normal working hours and hot snack available in the evening. The student Union Bar operates typical bar hours.
Road access to the showroom for get in is easily available but we must have your parking requirements well in advance. UCC operates a commercial parking & security firm. Cars are not allowed on site with out parking permits and commercial penalties are in force.

FACILITIES

  • You will have access to showers and a dressing room on the night of the performance
  • Access to the ShowRoom for all performances is from 10am on the day of the performance
  • The ShowRoom must be vacated immediately after the show.
  • There is a lounge (green room) for you to relax in during the day and until 8.30pm.
  • There are facilities on the campus for you to eat during the day and in the evening. (Evening meals are served from 5.15pm-6.45pm)
  • Internet access is available.

PUBLICITY

  • UoC will publicise your event through the School of Visual and Performing Arts Performance Brochure
  • UoC Marketing Department will support your event through liaison with press and radio
  • Publicity material for the venue needs to be sent 4 weeks in advance of your performance. (We require approximately 20 posters, and 100 fliers).

Financial Arrangements:

In the event of cancellation by UoC we will offer half of your fee in compensation.
