Chichester University has a longstanding commitment to dance and the performing arts at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. The ShowRoom’s role as a receiving venue and a teaching space reflects the Universities work in this area.
The ShowRoom is an important marker on the contemporary arts map – for both touring work and as a place where artists and audiences can meet at the exciting point when work is being developed.
The ShowRoom presents contemporary dance and performance by the best touring companies working on the small scale. Alongside ‘finished’ pieces, the venue has a commitment to providing a space where artists can test and experiment to create unique experiences. Recently the ShowRoom has supported the creation of new work by 1927; Gregory Maqoma and Search Party.
